Author:
Ingredients ...
  • ⅔ cup plain flour
  • ½ cup cocoa
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 100g good quality dark chocolate (I used Plaistowe by Nestle)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup castor sugar
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Method ...
  1. Preheat oven to 165C (fan-forced). Lightly spray a brownie pan and line with baking paper.
  2. Sift flour, cocoa and baking powder together and stir to combine. Set aside.
  3. Place butter and chocolate in a large saucepan and heat gently until both have just melted. Stir to combine. Remove from heat and allow to cool a little.
  4. Once chocolate mixture is cool, add eggs, vanilla extract, sugar and flour mixture and whisk until just combined. Stir through walnuts (if desired).
  5. Pour mixture into prepared brownie tin and bake for 14 – 15 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and allow to cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Lift onto cooling rack to cool completely. Using a sharp knife, slice into approx. 12 squares. Dust with either icing sugar or cocoa powder and serve.

  1. Made these and they were lovely. I used Cadbury drinking choc instead of cocoa and proper dairy milk and milky bar choc instead of cooking chocolate. Very chocolatey but amazing and so yum with ice cream. Definitely make again

    • I love serving these with ice cream as well … they make a perfect dessert … so glad you enjoyed the recipe!
