Chocolate Bliss Balls …

Chocolate Bliss Balls 002

I love anything that I can whip up, in no time at all, into a little ball of goodness and these Chocolate Bliss Balls certainly fit the bill.  I also love that they contain no sugar or gluten and are made from beautiful, delicious, luscious, fresh dates.

They are so easy to make … simply measure the ingredients, blitz in the food processor, roll and you’re done – you can’t get much simpler than that!!  Yummy enough to satisfy any chocolate craving, especially when the 3.00 o’clock munchies hit.  These are super-healthy and perfect for lunchboxes but remember to check with your school first, as these Bliss Balls contain almonds and may trigger a reaction in anyone suffering from nut allergies.  The kids can have a sweet treat without knowing just how good it is for them.  It’s also a sneaky way for me to get my kids to eat dates!!

Clever Tricks, Tips & Hints …

Almond meal is produced from coarsely ground almonds.  It can be expensive, so once you’ve opened the packet make sure you store what’s left in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.  I have read it can be stored in this way for 3 – 6 months before turning rancid.  I like to keep mine in the fridge and use it up within a couple of weeks in another recipe to eliminate waste.  My research also tells me it can be stored in the freezer and this will prolong its shelf life even further.  You can, of course, make your own using your food processor or other similar kitchen appliance but be careful to only “pulse” the almonds until you get the right texture or you might just end up with almond butter.

Enjoy!
